Vedic Astrology, also known as Jyotiṣa (the science of light), is an ancient and intricate system of astrology originating from the Vedic traditions of India. It forms a foundational 'school' of thought focused on understanding the cosmic influences on human life, drawing insights from the positions of planets, stars, and lunar mansions (Nakshatras) at the time of an individual's birth. This profound system aims to reveal one's dharma, karma, personality traits, life events, and potential paths, serving as a guide for self-discovery and navigating life's journey according to cosmic rhythms.

The Bhrigu Nadi school is a distinct and ancient branch of Vedic Astrology, primarily originating from South India, particularly attributed to the revered sage Maharishi Bhrigu. Unlike the more commonly known Parashari system that relies heavily on detailed birth charts derived from precise birth times, the Bhrigu Nadi system is renowned for its repository of ancient palm-leaf manuscripts.
These "Nadi Granthas" are believed to contain pre-written life readings for millions of individuals, categorized by specific planetary combinations and karmic patterns. A key characteristic of this school is its unique approach to prediction, often focusing on planetary Karakas (significators) and their direct interactions, especially the progression of Jupiter (Jeeva Karaka, representing the soul/life) and Saturn (Karma Karaka, representing karma/livelihood), to time events. It often places less emphasis on traditional house lordships or complex divisional charts, instead using a streamlined set of principles that can offer surprisingly specific insights into a person's past, present, and future, including karmic patterns and prescribed remedies.
